Russia Ukraine İncident Development, Watch from Saturday: Putin announces ‘Easter truce’ According to the statement made by the Kremlin, all clashes will cease from 18.00 on April 19 until 00.00 on April 21.

The Moscow administration stated that it assumed that the Ukrainian side would respond to this call for peace, but that they were also prepared for possible ceasefire violations and warned, “Our troops must be on alert to respond to possible Ukrainian provocations and ceasefire violations.”

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that commanders in the military operation zone had been instructed on ceasefire.

ZELENSKI WE DON’T TRUST MOSCOW’S WORDS

Ukraine’s response to Russia’s unilateral ceasefire announcement was not delayed.

Ukrainian leader Volodomir Zelensky described Putin’s initiative as “playing with people’s lives”. He suggested that the ceasefire should continue after April 21.

“If Russia is ready to enter into a full and unconditional ceasefire format, Ukraine will act accordingly and reflect Russia’s actions,” Zelensky said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister: Putin cannot be trusted

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha did not give a direct “yes” or “no” answer to Putin’s Easter ceasefire proposal, but said Putin’s words “cannot be trusted”

“Russia can accept the proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire at any time,” Sybiha said, adding that Ukraine had accepted a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States in March, but that Russia had instead ”stepped up terrorism against Ukraine.”

“Putin is now making statements that he is supposedly ready for a ceasefire. 30 hours instead of 30 days,” Sybiha said, adding, ”Unfortunately, there has long been a discrepancy between Putin’s statements and his actions.”

“We want to see Russian forces actually declare a ceasefire on all fronts. We call on all our partners and the international community to be vigilant.”

Moscow announces a 30-hour truce; Kyiv demands full, unconditional ceasefire and warns against “deceptive gestures.”

‘Putin can use this ceasefire to convince the US that Russia wants to end the war’

It is not the unconditional and comprehensive ceasefire that the United States initially demanded and Ukraine accepted.

Nevertheless, Vladimir Putin has instructed his troops not to open fire for 30 hours.

In a meeting with the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Putin announced an Easter ceasefire in Ukraine from 18.00 local time tonight until the end of Sunday night.

He said this decision was taken on “humanitarian grounds”.

Putin said that he expected Ukraine to behave in the same way and emphasized that Russian troops should be ready for possible attacks and provocations.

Putin also said that this ceasefire would show the sincerity of the Kiev leadership in the peace talks.

This comes a day after US President Trump said that the United States would stop mediating between Russia and Ukraine if there was no progress in the peace talks soon.
